Who am I?

I’m Sally—wedding celebrant, mentor, and so down to earth I bring my own shovel.

 

Before I stepped into the world of celebrancy, I spent nearly two decades as an office manager, mastering the art of keeping things running like clockwork. I’m also a qualified bookkeeper, which means when it comes to the admin chaos of running a business, I’ve been there, done that, and have the color-coded spreadsheets to prove it.

 

I’ve spent decades in theatre and public speaking and know the subliminal tips and tricks to make your ceremony stand out from the crowd.

Where we're staying.

Redcliffe is my adopted home town (since 2003) and has a lot to offer, not the  least of which is it's easy access from Brisbane so day trippers can attend the Saturday classes if they don't want to sleep over.  The venue is secluded but close to all that the Deadcliffe... I mean Redcliffe waterfront has to offer. If you've not been here in years you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Coffee, Content and Cocktails

Arrive from 2pm to settle in and enjoy a brew.

 

From 4pm, guest presenter Georgina Dawkins will educate and inspire us with fresh ideas for effective social media content.

 

In the evening, dinner will be a cocktail style reception where we get to know each other.

 

Saturday March 1st.

Confidence, Clients and Creativity

​

Workhops begin at 9am and to set us up for the day, guest presenter Jacleen Allen will talk to us about the ever present self-sabotage and how to deal with the negative thoughts about our business when they crop up out of the blue.

​

Next we'll move onto all things backend: Bookkeeping. workflows, CRM and SEO.

​

After lunch it's all things ceremony. How to deal with the Monitum so it doesn't stick out like dog's balls. How to get better answers to questionnaires, what to say when they really do tell you nothing and some basic stagecraft/presentation skills.

 

Sunday March 2nd

Cameraderie, Cockups and Cameras.

​

After a leisurely start ('cause it's Sunday) where you can choose to check out the famous Redcliffe waterfront markets or some other local sights. We'll begin the official part of the day at 11:00am with a session on Emergency Planning - how to prepare if the worst were to happen.

​

THEN ... TA DA... we will be joined at lunchtime by photographer and content creator Alyssa Washington. Included in your retreat price will be 3 edited headshots and 1 edited reel, as well as access to all the raw footage taken to play with yourself. Details of an optional upgrade for more of Alyssa's work will be available as an add-on through her directly on the day.

I expect the even to wrap up around 5pm, Leave when you have to, stay as long as you want, but I shan't be cooking for you on Sunday night.

What to bring?

  • I’ll supply bubbles on the first night, but after that BYO Alcohol.

  • Laptop (and chargers) for working if that's you're jam, but there will be old school handouts as well.

  • Comfortable clothes, swimmers, and perhaps a spesh outfit and some props for the photo shoot.

  • If you’re like me, all your meds! Trust me, you won’t run short on midnight snacks.

  • Anything for your down time: books or knitting? You have cable in your ensuite room.

  • An open mind and an open heart.

 

Refunds?

  • Available up until 31 December 2024 After that, sorry no, but your reservation will be transferrable if you have a buddy to take your place. If I can sell your spot then your payment can be credited towards future events.

What if I’m brand new to celebrancy?
You’re in the right place. This retreat is perfect for newer celebrants looking to build confidence and find their voice. You’ll learn a lot of insider tips and tricks not only from me but from the other attendees.

 

Will there be time to relax?

Well that’s kinda the point. Even if the 5 scheduled workshops run for 2 hours each (which they won’t) that’s only 10 hours out of the whole weekend.

II'm worried about the cost—how can I justify this investment?

I once had professional headshots taken I spent $1200 (and I only ended up using one of them). That was a poor investment. This is not. 

  • Two nights accommodation ($400)

  • Two dinners, lunches, breakfasts, 5 coffee & cakes & snacks ($250)

  • 5 workshops ($500)

  • 3 edit headshots in a group situation ($165)

  • One edited video ($100)

  • Grand total $1415

And FFS you’ve just gotten through Christmas, are preparing for the 2025 wedding season, the kids and have finally settled in back at school and YOU NEED A BREAK. What cost a few moments for yourself?
